The light generated by the near-infrared laser is adjusted to match the internal absorption frequency of oxygen molecules and passes through the upper headspace of the product, judging by the ratio of the absorbed laser to the concentration of substances in the headspace. The technology was developed with funding from the US Food and Drug Administration. This method can be used to analyze products quickly and comprehensively. It can be used in nondestructive residual oxygen analysis, container seal integrity test, product stability study, shelf life study, permeability study and so on.
